The encryption (end user controlled) should have been there
from the start. Can you just imagine the legal consequences
of any professional bound by confidentiality regulations
using this type of service ? 

BTW, does 'wave' have any privacy policy at all ? 
Or maybe a 'terms of use' one ? Didn't see anything
on the main 'wave' site.

Not GMail. Most countries have legislation as to what service providers
can do or not do with emails. There's no such legislation for the 'wave'
type of service, or in fact for anything that is not just email.
