Pierre has been asking for help with KDE maintenance, and Andrea has stepped up to the plate. So please welcome Andrea on board as a new packager / KDE maintainer. Yay! Waiting on a package to be updated? If only there was some way you could help out and improve everybody's favourite Linux distribution... (in case you are wondering, I mean Arch). Wait! There is! Just install the pkgstats package (pacman -Sy pkgstats), run the /usr/bin/pkgstats script as a user and help the Arch developers prioritize their efforts. Come on, all the cool kids are doing it. You can be like them! Before they were unzipped in the .install file, meaning the files weren't tracked in the pacman db, now they are never zipped with the '!zipman' options flag. Thanks to Xavier/shining for being a patient, bug and patch submitting awesome dude. Sorry for the inconvenience. (Remember to only -Sf zsh , not -Syfu. Unless you want that.) We are adding RAM, disk space, and switching to x86_64. Thanks to everyone who has donated, you're the ones making this happen. See you all in about a day. Our server is up and we will slowly be turning on services as we get them configured and ready for public consumption. If you notice something not working. please hold off for a day before reporting it as we may still be trying to get it up. Thanks for your patience! After sitting in testing for quite some months, it's time to move this package. This version fixes quite some issues present in the old version we had in extra. This version contains some important changes: - Input hotplugging is enabled by default now. See http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Xorg_input_hotplugging for more information. - nvidia-71xx is no longer supported and has been removed from the repositories. Affected users should install xf86-video-nv or xf86-video-vesa, complaints can be sent to nvidia for not providing compatible drivers. He plans on primarily helping us out with Bluetooth packages (which we've been slacking on these days), among other things. Hip-hip-hooray! In the file /usr/share/texmf/web2c/texmf.cnf, change the line trie_size = 600000 to trie_size = 700000 Then run sudo fmtutil-sys --missing and everything will be fine. This will allow us to push more frequent updates to the mirrorlist, instead of only updating it with pacman releases. As part of this update, your current /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist file will be saved as mirrorlist.pacorig and the default mirrorlist put in its place. Remember to merge these files in order to keep using your mirror(s) of choice. This new package will provide the following network clients/daemons: ftp/ftpd rexec/rexecd rlogin/rlogind rsh/rshd talk/talkd telnet/telnetd rcp. It will be replacing the following packages: core/netkit-telnet extra/netkit-ftp extra/netkit-rsh On a related note, netkit-tftp will be remove from the repo in favor of tftp-hpa. The inetutils tools can also profide a tftp client/server. It's currently not included in the inetutils package but we could provide them in a separate package if there is sufficient demand for it. Please update your settings/configs accordingly. Message-ID: <20090127000252.2E60D2A294@gerolde.archlinux.org> Today, on January 27th, the KDE team announces the stable version of KDE 4.2.0, so we have moved all kde-packages from [testing] to [extra]. We suggest that you exit from KDE before you update, backup your ~/.kde4 configuration dir and start with a clean config. Take a look at old plasmoids, they might not work with the new Plasma. You can find the ChangeLog on: http://www.kde.org/announcements/4.2/ For problems (we hope there aren't) please use the bugtracker or the arch-general mailing list as usual.
