I'm going to play devil's advocate here and just throw something
half-serious out.

If one of the key characteristics of Arch is that "Arch is what you make
it" doesn't pkgstats make a sort of 'oh, lots of people are using that,
maybe I should to' culture prevalent?

I understand the usage in deciding how dev time is allocated, but less
so with the AUR where the only (correct me if I'm wrong) use would be
for people to gauge the 'popularity' of a package.
